Hi hi le readers of Alex’s blog!! It’s a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, how do you do?
I’m Selfie, from The Meandering Course and wow, can I just say how pumped I am to be writing here? Alex is an amazing human being, her blog is fantastic and her writing: GODDAMN fabulous 😀
So thanks so much for letting me write on your fantabulous blog, Alex 🙂
“When you walk into a room, the first thing people notice is your outward appearance and your confidence”
This is what was told to us in school during a Grooming Session that prepares you for the world outside school. What to wear, working on your posture, self- confidence, manners etc.
The first thing people notice is your outward appearance and your confidence.
Wow. Isn’t that nice to know.
This just shows the effect our mindset can have on other people. If you feel not-so-great, unhappy, you tend to slouch and APPEAR to have a negative vibe around you. While if you’re happy and motivated, you tend to have a light spring in your step which makes you seem a lot more appealing.
I’ve noticed this in myself too. I walk with a slight slouch which makes me look stunted and less confident (which I am) and doesn’t set off any positive vibes.
Loving yourself first is something that, I think, we all are just not paying attention to. Loving yourself means looking in the mirror each day and saying: “Wow, you’re such a talented piece of a living being. You DESERVE to have a god day and damn, if you WANT a good day, best believe you’re GETTING a good day. Don’t you dare let anyone get in the way of you and your dreams”.
I’ve seen tons of people ( myself included), who see the mirror as another tool to hurt yourself and look at yourself with so much self- hatred. When you look at yourself in the mirror, you SHALL NEVER crib about how fat you look or your skin colour or your clothes or makeup.
Promise me that.
Loving yourself is one thing. And loving your body is a whole new concept.
Your body is a beautiful sanctuary. Imagine this, your body is one in 7 BILLION. It’s UNIQUE! No two people are created the same. There’s always going to be differences between you and person X. Person X is a completely DIFFERENT human being. Person X may have a smaller nose or a perfect figure. But hey, guess what? Person X IS NOT YOU.
The world would be a very boring place indeed if we had everyone trying to look like Person X. See, Person X is getting embarrassed now. Person X is infuriated with Persons A, B and C ’cause now Person X has lost their individuality.
You’ll lose yourself. You’ll slip away from the being the one person you’re SURE of.
Let me tell you this: YOU are awesome. YOU are beautiful. YOU can be loved by everyone, no matter what you look like. YOU are not THEM. YOU are…well, YOU.
And that’s bloody awesome.
